Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are important drivers of growth, employment and wealth creation in Zambia. SMEs represent well over 80% of businesses in Zambia and provide over 70% of informal employment for the Zambian population. Supporting the growth of SMEs is a top priority for Insight Partners Africa.
Our Approach
We continuously work with various partners in strengthening our support for SMEs. We implement tailor made innovative short term projects for SMEs that focus on wealth, job creation and increasing the capacity of the SMEs for sustainability. Previous partners include:
Programs & Initiatives
Strong Foundations. Sustainable Growth
In 2015, we partnered with PEP-Zambia-DFID to implement the Strong Foundations for Sustainable Growth project. Our initiative provided financial literacy training courses covering budgeting, operational planning, and financial management to businesses. Additionally, we helped nearly 50 Zambian SMEs set up cloud accounting systems for efficient and streamlined financial management. Strong Foundations Agribusiness
In 2016 we worked with the USAID on a funded program called PROFIT+ (Production Finance and Improved Technology Plus) which was implemented by ACDI/VOCA. To build the financial skills and capacity of business owners and their employees and to provide business advisory services and mentorship support to business owners when required.
Financial Literacy Training for Barclays Bank SME Clients
In 2016 we trained over 70 Barclays bank SME clients on good financial management.

In 2015 implemented the strong foundations. sustainable growth project in partnership with PEP-Zambia-(DFID).
